How to De-frump oversized Sweaters

Ditch the t shirts, Polo shirts, Suits for Women and blouse for awhile as you can wear this trend even to the office. It is perfect when worn with a pencil skirt and put a wide belt around it. Do not use a think belt as it will look more bulky. A wide belt with stuurdy hardware would be better and would put a shape on your body more.

The Worst Dressed on the Red Carpet
Not all the gowns we see on the red carpet are good or well tailored. No matter who the designer is or who is wearing it. It just does not work. Sometimes it is bad styling, sometimes one part of the look just did not work, or sometimes, the celebrities are just really daring and would like to wear something new on the red carpet. Of course this decision instantly sends them to the worst dressed list, but I admire their braveness for wearing what they want.
Tina Fey at the Golden Globes in 2010. She’s is wearing a questionable tea length dress by Zac Posen and finished the look with a ribboned Christian Louboutin sandals. First of all, the length of the dress is very awkward and weird. The dress is very retro, and her ribboned shoes looks a little off. This is by Zac Posen and yet she was put on the worst dressed list for that year. The dress is pretty but I guess it is not for the red carpet.
Sarah Jessica Parker was a nominee for her hit show, Sex and the City when she wore this in 2003. It is really brave of her to wear trousers on the red carpet instead of the traditional gown. It is also weird that she went to the awards show looking like the exact opposite of the ever so fashionable character she plays in her show.
Another actress who have strayed away from the traditional gown at the red carpet. Marisa Tomei wore separates, wearing an Oscar de la Renta blouse with a long black skirt. I guess the Neil Lane jewelry somehow compensated to this look.
This was in 1990 when a new and up and coming actress Julia Roberts won for her stint at Steel Magnolias. She wore an oversized men’s suit by Giorgio Armani because she was determined to have an outfit that was as comfortable as her boyfriend’s. So I dont need to explain why this is such a disaster as you can see it yourself already.
Diane Kruger debuted this first design by Marchesa in 2005. The dress was really pretty and nicely created but it was worn on the wrong occasion. I dont know why she wore this dress to the Golden Globes really.

All About Haute Couture
Haute Couture shows are the most glamourous collections that designers make. It is French for “high sewing” or “high dress making”. These are custom fitted clothing that are made to order for a specific customer and are usually made of high quality fabrics and materials and are sewn with extreme attention to detail. In Paris, haute couture is a protected name that can only be used by firms that meet certain and well defined standards. There is actually a law for it that is defined by Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Paris. For a designer to earn the right to call itself a couture house and to use the term haute couture in its advertising should be members of the Chambre Syndicale de la haute couture and must follow these rules:
- Design made to order for private clients with one or more fittings
- have a workshop (atelier) in Paris that employs at least fifteen people full time
- Each season (twice a year), present a collection to the Paris press compromising at least thirty five runs/exits with outfits both for daytime wear and evening wear.
The official list of members of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture as of 2011 are:
Adeline André, Anne Valérie Hash, Atelier Gustavolins, Chanel, Christian Dior, Christophe Josse, Franck Sobier, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Maruizio Galante, Stéphane Roland and Giambattista Valli. There are also correspondent members (foreign designers) who are Azzedine Alaïa, Elie Saab, Giorgio Armani, Martin Margiela and Valentino. They also invite guest members to show and they are Alexis Mabille, Alexandre Vauthier, Bouchra Jarrar, Iris Van Herpen, Julien Fournie, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, Maxime Simoens.

Modern Suits for 2012
Mens fashion are different from women. Their cycle moves slower than of womens fashion and they do not have a lot of fashion weeks unlike womenswear. Womenswear have pre fall and spring, resort wear, spring, fall, and haute couture. Sometimes designers mix a few menswear pieces in their collections but most have a different time to show a full menswear collection.
There are distinct styles of a suits that may be different from every year because it evolves a lot and sometimes and some designers become creative with it and play up with the style. For 2012, there will be an entire new trend of mens suitsand I will guide you into what to expect with the new styles, cuts and fabrics that you should be looking for in a modern suits
When choosing a suit to invest it, remember this two things: classicism and masculinity.
A good suit is a classic one that takes elements from the peak of eras of men’s suits (like from the Victoria era, the dapper look from the 1920s, the details from the 1960s etc) and applied to a modern silhouette.
For the masculinity of the formal suits , it means that the cut of it compliments and emphasizes the male physique. It makes the man very masculine and confident with what he is wearing and he will be able to wear the suit proudly.
Single breasted suits are never out of fashion and it is a dominant suit cut trend for 2012. The cut of single breasted suit has evolved and have two dominant styles. the first one is the sleek cut. This is the toned dow way of wearing suit. It is still nicely made but it is still not meant to be worn casually. It is mostly inspired by the suits from the 1960s and it looks a lot like this suit that Mad Men’s Don Draper is wearing.
The second one is the detailed cut. This is a suit that is a little more playful than the sleek cut and only a man who is confident will be able to pull it off. It is a somewhat a revival of the suits that were a trend in the 1930s and the 1970s.
The Three Piece Suit
Waistcoats were frowned upon for a long time but now, it has emerged and is back from the grave with vengeance as a statement piece. This year’s three piece suit trend is all about cohesion. All the pieces need to be made of one material in the same color and shade.
